Can I claim for Criminal Injury?
If you have been physically injured or suffered psychological trauma as a result of a violent crime our specialist solicitors could help you claim compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
We appreciate just how distressing it can be if you or your loved ones have been a victim of violent crime as in many cases the psychological scars can far outlast the physical injuries.
For a CICA criminal assault compensation claim to stand a chance of being successful, you must have reported the incident to the police and fully co-operated with them.
To be eligible for compensation under the CICA scheme the following apply:
- You have been the blameless victim of a violent crime or assault.
- The crime or assault must have happened in England, Wales or Scotland.
- The incident must have been reported to the police as soon as practically possible.
- If you were an adult at the time of the incident, you should make a claim within two years of the date of the incident, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Every year we help thousands of people to achieve successful criminal injury claims and recover the highest levels of assault compensation they are entitled to, from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
The first step is to get in touch with us and one of our criminal injury claim experts can conduct a free, confidential, no-obligation, No Win No Fee consultation with you.

We will be with you every step of the way to guide you through the process.
How much compensation will I get?
As with most other personal injury claims there is no set rule for how much compensation you might receive for an injury sustained whilst aboard.
The amount of settlement will depend on the extent of your injuries, how it has impacted your life and how much time a full recovery will take.
However, in addition to damages for any injury, pain and suffering, you may also be able to claim for any loss of earnings as well as for the cost of any medical treatment or rehabilitation that may be required and any additional transport costs.
Our personal injury solicitors are very experienced in this area, and will aim to get you the maximum compensation available for your injury.
How much will making a claim cost?
We undertake all CICA claims on a No Win No Fee basis which offers you peace of mind in knowing that you will not have to pay any money up front and there will be no financial risk if your case is unsuccessful.
If your case is successful, you will only be expected to pay a contribution to your solicitor’s fees once the case has been resolved. The costs paid are usually a percentage of the compensation awarded and will always be agreed with you, before your claim proceeds.
